Real Madrid are close to agreeing the sale of striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar to Bundesliga club Stuttgart, Real sporting director Miguel Pardeza has said.
The Dutch international has become surplus to requirements after Real's recent spending spree and did not travel with the squad on their pre-season trip to Dublin.
"(We) are in very advanced talks with Stuttgart and the best thing to do was to find a solution," Pardeza told Spanish radio.
"I think the player was aware of this and opted to stay in Madrid to see if a final resolution can be found."
The striker had been linked with Manchester United, Milan and Tottenham.
Huntelaar scored eight goals in 22 appearances for Real Madrid after joining in January last season, with most of his appearances coming from the bench.
The Dutch forward became surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu after Karim Benzema joined from Lyon, and Stuttgart were the only major side to follow up their interest in the ex-Ajax hit-man.
