A deal worth €24 million was brokered last night between Portuguese outfit and les Gones, who are set to smash their transfer record, which was previously the €18m the paid to Lille for Kader Keita. In addition to this up front payment, an addition €4m will be due to the Dragoes depending on OL’s sporting performance.
“The realisation of this transfer is dependent on the one hand of an agreement between the player and Olympique Lyonnais, and on the other hand the results of the medical examination,” a statement from the Ligue 1 side, which describes ‘Licha’ as “one of the best forwards currently operating in Europe”, read.
Lyon have indicated that a contract must be signed and a medical passed by the Argentine by July 24.
Meanwhile, L’Equipe suggests that Lyon continue the pursuit of additional attacking options, which were lacking as they trailed in last season’s championship race. Loic Remy, who only left OL last summer for Nice, continues to be closely associated with a return to the Stade Gerland. A €16m deal, plus the services of young left-winger Anthony Mounier, has been suggested by the Parisian daily.
